PDFM8 Privacy Policy

Effective 13 September 2026

PDFM8 processes PDFs locally in your browser. Your documents are never uploaded to PDFM8 or the developer.

PDFM8 does not operate a server, require an account, include advertising, or use analytics or tracking technologies.

Data PDFM8 processes

PDFM8 processes files that you explicitly select or drop into the workspace. This supports merging, splitting, page editing, text and image extraction, compression, OCR, permanent redaction, form filling, metadata editing, print preparation, signatures, and password protection.

PDF content remains in extension memory while the workspace is open unless you explicitly enable Workspace Recovery. Recovery stores document bytes and workspace settings in IndexedDB inside your local Chrome profile. You can clear this saved workspace from PDFM8 at any time.

Portable .pdfm8 workspace files contain the original PDFs and saved edits, including content hidden by crop or marked for later redaction. Treat these project files as originals, not sanitised exports.

PDFM8 stores local recipe settings, reusable placement templates, workspace preferences and signature images you explicitly choose to save in browser local storage. Saved signatures stay inside the local Chrome profile. It never stores an export password.

Permissions and network access

PDFM8 requests the Chrome contextMenus permission solely to display “Open with PDFM8” on PDF links. It requests no host permissions and cannot read or download the linked file; the user must explicitly save and select it. Its PDF, OCR, and security engines and OCR models are packaged with the extension. Tools work without a network connection.

Sharing, selling, and retention

PDFM8 does not collect, sell, share, or remotely retain personal information. The developer cannot access, recover, or delete your documents because the developer never receives them. You control input files, downloaded outputs, and any optional recovery copy on your device.

Children

PDFM8 is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users.

Changes

If PDFM8's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before the changed version is distributed.
